About Me
Background
My name is Roberto Romano, but I go by Tino. I have integrated data science strategies within my mechanical engineering career. I enjoy the diversity and complexity engineering brings as it allows me to discover new techniques I can leverage into my profession.
Past Experience
Starting my career in the biomedical field, I worked within a highly skilled mechanical design team. By taking on various engineering tasks, I quickly learned the power of collaboration, versatility, and resourcefulness . Being involved in a startup company, I realized that uncertainty and risk was very motivating in pushing through discomfort.
Learning the Foundations
With only a biomedical engineering background, it became clear to me that my education needed to evolve. In particular, building a solid mechanical engineering foundation. I decided to leave my outstanding job to pursue a higher level of education.
Returning to the Industry
After graduating, I understood the value in not only design but reliability of a product. Working with an abundance of data, I realized that there were significant shortcomings in the industry and my profession. I learned how to leverage data analysis and analytics to sharpen my research and designing ability to make a product more robust and reliable.
Hobbies
During my free time, I relax by moving. The practice of Jiu Jitsu allows me to quiet my mind, focus on the task at hand, and execute techniques during intense and stressful situations. I also have had a deep obsession with watches. To me, they represent the pinnacle of human made precision.
